Instructions
BURGERS:
- Shape beef, garlic, dried soup mix and water into 4 thick burger patties.
- Heat a large skillet over med-high heat. Cook burgers until browned on both sides. Drain grease.
- Pour in condensed onion soup, cover and cook on low for approx 8 min, or until burgers are cooked through. If you've made caramelized onions, pile 1/4 of the onion mixture on each burger. Top each with a slice of Swiss cheese until melted.
- Serve burgers in warmed rolls (with mayo if desired) and soup mixture in small bowls for dipping.
- These are tender and flavorful - a favorite at our house. We enjoy best when serve with a tossed salad.
Caramelized Onions
- Cut peeled onion in half from top to bottom. Slice the onion into half-rings. The thickness is not important but thinner, the faster they cook. In a medium skillet, over medium-high heat add onions when oil begins to ripple. Stir until onions are coated with oil. Add salt and sugar. Continue cooking and stirring occasionally until color and texture you desire.

I often make multiples of this recipe. Complete steps 1 & 2. Once cooled, freeze in family size portions. When ready add condensed onion soup to defrosted burgers and cook in 350 oven for approx 30 minutes, continuing with steps 3 & 4.
