November 11 is what’s known as Veterans Day in the US and Remembrance Day in Canada. It is the day to officially honor the men and women who have served in the military. November 11 marks the end of Works War I, which formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.
This is my dad, Richard George Thomas, as he proudly wore his jacket. The photo is from the last Remembrance Day before passed. Every year he attended the local Royal Canadian Legion for their Remembrance Day events. Just a year later, in November 2016, he and my Mom decided to visit us in New Orleans, LA. They had typically visited us in the spring, rather than the fall. Just hours after leaving our house, on December 30th, 2016, he passed away in his sleep.
He left behind the love of his life and wife of 54 years Marilyn, 3 adult kids and our spouses, his 11 grandchildren and 3-1/2 great-grandchildren.
Today please take a moment to pray for those who have past, present and future protected our freedoms.
